To be a Saint is to be a champion. None in Kalimdor dare mention the name, should they be reminded of the atrocities of the past... Saints are expected to be ruthless in matters of war and death, yet in the name of peace...To have the courage to stand up for oneself, yet maintain humility... Seek justice and integrity in his daily dealings, while deep down knowing that the final blood will be spilled from his blade... Azeroth needs us... Do you have what it takes to be a legend in... The Saints of Saurfang?
New ranking systemPosted by PhugaluDecember 31, 2009 at 9:37 amHappy Newyear to everyone! I wish you all the best for 2010 and lots of killing, questing, raiding, socialising, ... in our guild. PlagueworksPosted by PhugaluDecember 30, 2009 at 8:59 am
Plagueworks is the second wing of Icecrown Citadel that is due to open its doors on the 6th of january on the European servers. The abominations in there will sure have heard of us by now after we whooped their colleagues' asses in The Lower Spire. So here's a little heads up about the wing.
The Plagueworks is an area inside the west side of Icecrown Citadel it is an area connected to the rest of the instance by the Spire surrounding the Frozen Throne in the middle level of the zone. The Plagueworks is a laboratory for creation of potions, vials and containers of the Plague of Undeath and blight slimes. It is also the factory where several Abominations and horrific scourge creations are made. Professor Putricide is the leader of the Plagueworks. BossesFestergut along with his "brother" Rotface, wants to make their daddy (Professor Putricide) proud of killing the raid One of the two abomination bosses One of the Citadels Minibosses & pet dog of Festergut and Rotface Realm rankPosted by PhugaluDecember 29, 2009 at 11:43 pmWe found this nice realm guild ranking feature to see how our guild is progressing in 10 man raids on our very own server. The feature comes from this website: http://www.guildox.com and gives an accurate update on all kinds of raiding progressions and achievements on our realm. As you can see on the right side of our homepage, our ranking is 0 at the moment but I expect this to be updated soon. I can tell you that our current rank is 32 for 10 man raids (inclusive Horde guilds), and 18 for 25 man raids. I'm back...........Posted by SamoanspiderDecember 2, 2009 at 7:31 am
Its been a while, but after many changes in my life, I now have time available again to update the website properly. Looks like its come just at the right time as I'm getting word from several websites that Patch 3.3 is to drop next week. Whilst I'm under no illusion that we'll be wiping on boss 1 in Icecrown, I'm up for a laugh and will happily make an arse of myself along with the rest of the A team on day 1.
In other news, the last few weeks has seen some pretty big leaps and bounds for the guild. We're clearing Totc with regularity, Ony 10 is a 15 minute affair and Ulduar will soon be ours, with 25 man following soon I'm sure. Ony 25 fell to a large number of saints recently and I'm fairly certain that once we have a few more people in the top geared category, we'll be seeing an all star Totc25 group starting to learn the ropes. Things are looking good. The next thing is more of a request. I get the feeling sometimes that a lot of guildies aren't all that keen to help others; I'd like to remind people we are a social guild with interests in high end raiding. We are not elitist. Please be more mindful of others and help if you can or at the very least, be polite. You dont have to drop everything to help, but sometimes just to acknowledge the request of others means more than the help itself. So even if you're saved to an instance, dont have time or aren't in the mood, just say it. Otherwise we're going to start losing people and I don't just mean new people, I'm talking the lifers who've been with the saints since the start or close to it. Anyway, I see good things ahead. See you on the other side. New video forum!Posted by PhugaluNovember 6, 2009 at 10:06 am
More and more often our guild will record achievements and raid runs from The Saints of Saurfang.
Therefore we have our very own video section in the forum from now on so that you can relive all our epic (and less epic) victories in World of Warcraft. Feel free to contribute videos you made yourself as well. If you don't know how the heck you can make such videos but would like to learn how to make them, ask Phugalu for a tutorial and he'd be happy to help you out. Enjoy our glorious wipes.... err.... victories HERE!! New Raid tactics sectionPosted by SamoanspiderOctober 30, 2009 at 10:15 am
Looking left towards the navigation bar you will notice 'Raid Tactics' has appeared. This is a work in progress response to a feeling i've had for a little while about the clutter in the forum. Since I have had comments from a couple of guild members about it, I thought its time for a change. So there it is. Only Totc10/25 is up at the moment, but the rest will appear in time.
If you find there is extra info you'd like to see in there, then let me know and I'll add it in. This system is very flexible and doesn't require searching all over the forum to find things, you click the details for the raid you're participating in, watch the video and read the tactics. Then head on over to the forum to the dated raid post made by the raid leader and respond saying you know the tactics. Then if you turn up to the raid and dont know anything, we can kick you and get someone who does! Happy days. UPDATE - All Wrath of the Lich King raids are now complete in the raid tactics section. Please check the tactics and reply to the post in the forum for the raid you are joining. All current raid tactics posts are to be moved and locked. Uh oh!Posted by SamoanspiderOctober 30, 2009 at 10:08 am
Well whilst trawling the net during some downtime, I have discovered this little nugget. Scary news for tanks and healers alike. I love the smell of wipes in the morning!
For Icecrown Citadel, we are implementing a spell that will affect every enemy creature in the raid. The spell, called Chill of the Throne, will allow creatures to ignore 20% of the dodge chance of their melee targets. So if a raid's main tank had 30% dodge normally, in Icecrown Citadel they will effectively have 10%.
Why are we doing this? The high levels of tank avoidance players have obtained is making the incoming damage a tank DOES take more "spiky" than is healthy for raiding. Ideally, tanks would be receiving a relatively constant stream of damage over time. This allows healers to better plan their healing strategy, broaden their spell options, and simply give more time to react. Tanks could use their cooldowns more reactively. Instead, the current situation is that if we make a hard hitting melee boss and a tank doesn't avoid two successive swings then the tank could very well be dead in that 1-2 second window. The use of reactive defensive abilities instead becomes a methodically planned affair, healers have to spam their largest heals just in case the huge damage spike happens. We've been trying to do a fair amount to mitigate the effect of high tank avoidance on the encounter side of things during this expansion with faster melee swings, additional melee strikes, dual wielding, narrowing the normal variance of melee swing damage, and various other tricks. There's a limit to what we can do, however. So to give us a bit of breathing room we've implemented Chill of the Throne. Going forward past Icecrown Citadel, we have plans to keep tank avoidance from growing so high again. We'll have this on the PTR soon so players can see the effects inside Icecrown Raid.BoredomPosted by SamoanspiderOctober 27, 2009 at 4:04 am
Its a bit of a slow news week so far. Not really that much that I can mention. The raid interface for the LFG option in Patch 3.3 has surfaced and promises to locate people cross realm to join us. A few new snippets of information have cropped up, but certainly nothing to get overly excited about. If anyone has anything they would like mentioned, drop me an in game mail and i'll make sure it gets on here.
